Firaxis has created a great environment for modders, too. The studio worked hand-in-hand with some of the original game’s best modders to ensure a selection of optional mods would be available at launch, and it didn’t take long for other intrepid modders to ply their trade once the game was out. With over 200 mods released in the game’s first week on the market, it looks like gamers will have plenty to look forward to. Players also have the option to purchase downloadable content called the Reinforcement Pack, which will provide twists to the core gameplay in the coming months, much like Enemy Within
Creating badass alien destroyers is a major part of the fun of the X-COM series. The customization option present in the vanilla version of the SLG Game community is nice, but it lacks a lot of depth — even with the free DLC they released a while ago — leading to a lot of similar-looking grunts. User Stenchfury, though, really kicks the customization up a notch with his modular helmets and arm
The story in this game is dense. There are a lot of characters and terms used that can be hard to follow. This is just the demo too so who knows how complicated the main game will get. It would be nice if these conversations had text logs. To bring up Persona 5 Strikers again, that game lets players hit a button in order to scroll back through what characters just said accompanied by voice work if it was already th
That is to say they released a demo to the public in the hopes that they can then gather feedback for the final release. Chances are they will launch another demo down the line showcasing their progress on Project Triangle Strategy. Hopefully they can change that name because it is a mouthful. There are bigger things in this game that need fixing tho
Players once again resume the roll of The Commander, who has been kept on ice by aliens for the last twenty years. Recovered after a desperate gamble by the sweater-loving Bradford, the linear plot then guides players to a climactic and intense final mission, with random events occurring all across the board as players race to beat the clock against a mysterious alien proj
Fortnite is available on just about every modern platform under the sun, including portable consoles. All the same, being able to play the PC version on the go will be a great addition to the Fortnite ecosys
Thankfully, Musashi fixed this for replayers with the Still Stop Wasting My Time Mod — updated for the War of the Chosen mod, hence the “Still” — which speeds up all the various animations that slow down the flow of gameplay. Never again will players suffer through the tedious 80-minute holo targeting animation. A nice bonus is that this mod seems to be almost universal, with no major confli
This game is not officially out yet, but Baldur’s Gate 3 has been receiving a lot of positive press from its Early Access release . Like many RPGs, it is all about balancing equipment and paying attention to stats. Where one can get restless doing this on a couch or in front of a desktop, RPGs have always found a good home on portable consoles purely for this reason. Fans cannot wait to get their hands on the full release, but early access offers quite a lot of content by its
The original UFO Defense Force had players travel to space to eliminate the alien threat, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see the sea-based aliens attempt to utilize the moon in order to bring destruction to humanity. Many veteran gamers have been expecting some kind of space mission ever since the series was first revived, and one has to feel like it’s due at some point – and logically, the moon has a strong connection to anything water-ba
Even though the XCOM games are famously difficult , they are all turn-based. As a result, players have plenty of time to plan and think about their moves. XCOM: Chimera Squad is currently only on PC, so Steam Deck looks to be a great way to play this beloved title . XCOM: Enemy Unknown is available on the PS Vita, but it plays poorly. XCOM 2 is available on Nintendo Swi
Of course, the battle on the field is just one aspect of management that players will face. The base management has gone through an overhaul as well, and Firaxis has done well to get rid of the UFO hunting minigame that felt out of place and awkward in the first title. The game puts a much higher importance on individual scientists and engineers, which makes rescuing them in optional timed missions an important judgement call for players. One rescued, the scientists provide research bonuses so players can unlock gear faster, and engineers can be placed in varying rooms to provide a wide aspect of bonuses, from increasing the resistance’s communication network to helping troops recover from wounds fas
Astute gamers will have realized that Terror From The Deep was set in 2040 in the original canon. Seeing as XCOM 2 takes place in 2035, it looks like Firaxis is poised to continue their tradition of taking the general XCOM timeline and modifying bits and pieces of it. Terror From The Deep already fits into this timeline pretty nicely, and we fully expect a heavy influence from this title in their next g
