Early on, pistols deal lacking damage and have few ways of bypassing armor, making this skill somewhat lacking. Once you unlock plasma weaponry or, better yet, get the Hunter’s revolver, this skill becomes one of the best in the game. Few things are more satisfying than seeing your Sharpshooter single-handedly kill nearly a dozen enemies in a single act
These are the leaders of the Sectoid soldiers, and besides having higher base stats they also have devastating psionic attacks. Sectoid Commanders have four psionic abilities: Mind Control, Mindfray, Greater Mind Merge, and Psi Panic. The Mind control is especially nefarious, as it gives the Sectoid Commander complete control of a soldier in the player’s squad for three turns. Most mind controlled soldiers do not survive the mission. The Mind Merge gives all Sectoids in battle decent bonuses to Will (morale), health, and critical hit chance. The worst aspect is it is very difficult to distinguish commanders from normal Secto
Moreover, its inclusion of wacky B-Film cutscenes makes Red Alert all the more entertaining experience. As such, gamers looking for an alternate setting for an RTS that’s still relatable, Red Alert might do the job for t
Project Octopath Traveler was one of the first games shown for the Nintendo Switch. While it did eventually go to PC, it remains one of Nintendo’s bigger console exclusives. Now that team at Square Enix is back with the same strategy in a new 2D game in
Managing skills and load-outs of even one player character can be a hassle in some RPGs. Now, imagine a game where players control, level up, and customize dozens of different characters over the course of a 40+-hour campaign. What a headache! Luckily for all War of the Chosen players out there, Robojumper made squad management much less of a headache with his Squad Select overha
This game, as it says in the beginning of the demo, is not messing around. Like Square Enix’s Bravely Default II demos, they too were cranked up in difficulty in the hopes of showing off the battle system at its fullest. It would seem then that based on the intro dialogue to this game, difficulty settings will be implanted in the final product. It’s sadly not a given though as many games still don’t offer these options for myriad reasons like Dark So
Critical hits are easy to achieve on snipers late-game, meaning this skill reduces your killing power the longer it’s active. With that said, few skills can match the sheer damage this can dish out. With a good sniper rifle and a good vantage point, it is possible to kill upwards of a dozen enemies in a single action, provided you have free reloads on your weapon to keep the chain go
The Heavy Floater does not have the toughest armor, or a particularly high damage potential, but its special abilities more than make up for those deficiencies. The most exasperating ability is that Floaters can launch themselves to any location in the battle zone. This is annoying when a Heavy Floater is near death then launches out of range. They can also bombard an area, which usually negates the cover the player’s soldiers are hiding behind. Lastly, when they are airborne, a Heavy Floater can evade incoming fire; which lowers the accuracy of the player’s soldiers by
The XCom games are famous for their engaging squad-based combat. The games have always featured a large collection of alien types – each with an ability that players must keep in mind if they want all of their soldiers to make it back to base in one piece. Some of these aliens can fly, some are advanced robotic killing machines, some are basically living tanks, but the deadliest of them have psionic abilities that are frustrating at best – and absolutely devastating at worst. These are the most difficult alien types a player can expect when playing the X-Com titles; minus the unique types like the Uber Ethereal or Warlo
The Mutons are some of the most difficult enemies to defeat in every XCom game. Muton Elites are enhanced to make them even more formidable. They have some of the heaviest armor in the SLG game reviews, and a very high health rating. Muton Elites are armed with heavy plasma cannons; which can kill even a heavily armored soldier with one shot. Elites are also armed with explosive grenades which can negate the cover the player’s soldiers are using. They also have a suppression ability which can gives them an attack of opportunity during the player’s turn. Sometimes it seems like Muton Elites are invulnerable; which not only affects the morale of the player’s soldiers, but the morale of the pla
Lots of turn-based games feature loads of weapons. A new one, RAM Pressure, features over 100 different weapons to fight aliens with. After a few add-ons or other mods, managing new weapons in the XCOM loadout screens got to be maddening at a certain point, particularly if using Musashi’s RPG Overhaul. So, the man himself took to the keyboard once again to bring players the Tactical Armory UI m
